There are different approaches to teaching listening. The aim of this article is to reveal the main issues of teaching listening. The conditions necessary for successful communicative aspect in teaching listening are enumerated. The author investigates the peculiarities of using the English songs at universities for improving the phonetic, lexical and grammatical skills. Methodological and psychological factors of using songs and music in class and their considerable advantages are analysed. The usage of songs has a lot of advantages in the process of forming a foreign language competence. The contents of songs contribute to expanding vocabulary and practicing grammar constructions. Listening to songs improves pronunciation, develops communicative activities, creates positive psychological atmosphere. Due to songs and music students get acquainted with the culture of the English speaking countries.
The author outlines the stages of work with the audio text and describes the main features of each stage. The article contains material focusing on the latest achievements in the area of teaching listening. |
