The article analyzes the cognitive process of conceptualization, which is the process and the result of the mental construction of objects and phenomena. Conceptualization consists of the structuring of knowledge the awareness of specific information. C oncepts, which a re the result of conceptualization, form a separate system of interrelationships and subordination and thus compose the conceptosphere of national culture. A single concept can be expressed in several ways and at the same time a single word can express different c oncepts. T he a rticle e mphasizes that the study of conceptualization strengthens the understanding of the role of concepts in forming a picture of the world. The result of conceptualization is not just a list of formed concepts, but also a conceptosphere as a system which includes both concepts and the connections between them. Terniievska Y. Стаття присвячена аналізу особливостей когнітивного процесу концептуалізації. Визначено, що концептуалізацію розглядають як процес і результат розумової побудови предметів та явищ. Суть її полягає у структуруванні знань та усвідомленні конкретної інформації, підґрунтям чого є виділення смислових компонентів у людській свідомості. Концептуалізація предметів та явищ оточуючого світу сприяє утворенню у людській свідомості структур знань і досвіду, тобто концептів. Концептуалізація ґрунтується на когнітивному процесі категоризації, оскільки до формування концептів залучені попередньо осмислені дані. Однак концептуалізація зосереджена на виділенні змістових одиниць людського досвіду та структурних типів знань, тобто концептів, а категоризація повʼязана із об’єднанням схожих одиниць у категорії, тобто більші розряди. Концепти, утворені внаслідок концептуалізації, тяжіють до організації, складають окрему систему взаємозв’язків і підпорядкування та цим самим утворюють концептосферу національної культури. Вона є спільною для усіх представників культури та об’єднує націю на психічному рівні. Унікальним засобом передачі концепту є значення. Відмінність між значенням і концептом полягає у тому, що значення як елемент семантичного простору прикріплене до мовного знака, а концепт як складник концептосфери не повʼязаний із конкретним знаком. Специфіка вербалізації концептів полягає у тому, що один і той самий концепт можна виразити альтернативними засобами. Водночас одним і тим самим словом можуть виражатися різні концепти. Смисли зʼявляються тільки у конкретних ситуаціях, на відміну від значення, що не пов’язується із контекстом. Значення побудоване з деякої сукупності сем, а смисл складають мінімальні смислові одиниці, які підходять інтенціонально. У статті обґрунтовується думка про те, що вивчення процесів концептуалізації понять посилює усвідомлення ролі окремого концепту у картині світу. Підсумком концептуалізації виступає не просто сукупність сформованих концептів, а концептосфера як система, що обʼєднує і самі концепти, і звʼязки між ними. Тернієвська Є. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the process of the national conceptosphere development in Great Britain. It was found that the national conceptosphere is a set of categorized, standardized, processed concepts in the consciousness of the ethnic group. The conceptosphere expands with the enrichment of historical experience, culture of the nation, its art, science and literature. As a result of the analysis of modern linguistic sources it is determined that the main concepts of the British linguistic picture of the world are correlated with the features of the national character of the British. English people usually talk about themselves as quiet, reserved people who are dominated by common sense and who are not inclined to make rash decisions. At the same time, the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish present themselves as the complete opposite, namely as romantic, impulsive and energetic people. In Victorian era such concept as “Englishness”, or English national identity, arose. In that period new traditions, new educational system, and new standards of the English language were emerging. Thus, the political, economic, cultural events and shifts in the history of the British nation at the turn of the XIX and XX centuries led to the formation of the modern conceptosphere of the people. This period in the life of Great Britain gave new meanings to many culturally marked signs embodying the material and immaterial culture. Terniievska Y.
